Design for the web...
TSM specialize in offering design that suits all media including the internet. We can present navigation, content and layout for the web in a way that's user friendly and also technically sound.
The code used to build websites is validated to W3C standards and will display correctly in all browsers - we test in old and new versions of Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Google Chrome, Avant and Netscape.
The front end artwork is produced with file size and search indexing in mind.
TSM can custom build a site (we do not use templates or software) or we can set up and brand a third party content management site such as
Joomla or
OSCommerce.
The design process...
If you commission a new site from
TSM this is the usual process step by step...
- Step 1
TSM sets up hosting and email for the domain and uploads a holding page (logo, telephone, email)
- Step 2
Creation of visual ideas based around type of business, other sites you like or your brand. Initial keywords researched.
- Step 3
Content and navigation/menu structure applied to the visual artwork.
- Step 4
Site build and inclusion of initial keywords
- Step 5
Test and launch
- Step 6 (optional)
Monitor and optimize site performance/traffic
If you want to update or develop an existing site we can develop either on your existing hosting or on new hosting and switch once tested and approved.
What we need from you...
If you have existing material such as text, time can be saved if it is supplied as a text document (Word, Notepad etc), as the original layout software design file or as a high quality PDF file.
Images should be as large as possible - supplied on CD or memory stick is ideal - or upload with ftp or something like
Dropbox if you want to send images via the net (please avoid sending large image files by email). Actual photographs are also good and can be scanned.
If you need stock photography
TSM can direct you to online libraries or email you a lightbox of suggested images.
Important note: When producing original artwork it is important to start with (or create) high resolution files. It is relatively easy to downsize large files for the web but resizing images from the web for high resolution print doesn't really work as too much quality is lost.
If you've had design work done before your printer or designer should be able to help you with format and files.

Copyright
TSM strongly advises against unauthorized copying of images or content from the web for your own publication. Content on the internet is freely available to view but is still subject to copyright and unauthorized use can (and does) lead to legal problems.
TSM highly recommends that images are bought from stock libraries or you take your own photos. Written content should also be as original text and ideally written with keywords relating to your product or service included.
We mention copyright to protect you from unwanted copyright issues and to clarify that copyright does exist for web content and is legally contested in more cases than realized.
We also take steps to give notice to others that your content is subject to copyright both on the page and within the code.
TSM can also advise on how to protect images and your more sensitive material.
